Embarking on any new journey can be both scary and exciting at the same time. Whether you are traveling to a place you have never been, starting a new job, or in this instance, starting a new lifestyle platform. A new and very healthy WHOLE lifestyle that will change and enhance every aspect of your life. Even to the point that those anxieties that you may have about traveling to that new place or starting that new job would be lessened because you will feel emotionally, physically and mentally stronger. You will be on your way to finding your balance; connecting your mind, body and spirit in a way that you likely have not ever done before.
It sounds like a lot and it sounds like a long road. Before you give up and say “this isn’t for me”, let’s start with 3 simple things that you can start doing RIGHT NOW (TODAY!) that will be a simple, easy introduction to the best decision you could possibly make. I will explain why later. Trust me, baby steps pay off in the end! And the whole thing really starts with food. That one thing that we all need, that we all know, and that most of us have the power to change.
3 THINGS YOU CAN START DOING TODAY
Understanding what “acid and alkaline” mean to your body. We don’t need to get into a huge talk about pH levels just yet, but think of it like this: Pure water has a neutral pH of 7. pH values lower than 7 are acidic, and pH values higher than 7 are alkaline. Your body has to keep it’s pH level just above 7 to remain healthy. Anything lower than that and your body becomes more acidic (just think, battery acid has a pH of 0!). That’s it, you’re done with step 1! Just understand the concept…the rest will follow.
Take a look at your dinner plate and instead of looking at it the same old way, try this: look at is as though it were a color palette. Is it mostly white (pasta, rice, potatoes, meat) or is it filled with vibrant colors and textures like higher alkaline veggies such as leafy greens, broccoli, carrots, beets, green peppers, zucchini and many more? If you are consuming the traditional American diet, that is likely not the case. Try adding a few of these beneficial veggies to your regular meals slowly but surely and then increase gradually. Remember, baby steps. Water, water, water. It’s important (remember neutral pH?). Your water can come from live fruits and veggies, tea (no processed beverages) or healthy fresh juices. As far as meats and dairy, try to slowly cut back at the same time as you are adding more veggies and fruits to your diet. It may seem like an awkward exchange, but over time your body will adjust and you will actually begin to notice the changes. There’s step 2. Take your time with this one, and introduce and eliminate foods slowly so you don’t get discouraged.
Of course no healthy lifestyle change comes without bringing up exercise. It is VITAL and human beings were meant to move. Our bodies need to sweat to release toxins, to have some kind of aerobic stimulation, and to MOVE. You don’t have to go buy a gym membership that you won’t use, maybe start by just taking the dog for a longer walk or having a routine of walking after dinner or in the morning to jump start your day. If you already work out, great! Then move on to steps 1 and 2! If you don’t, start slowly. How you choose to start moving your body is completely up to you! Whether it’s dancing, yoga, hiking or swimming, just get out there and enjoy! Be in the moment, get some fresh air and just absorb your surroundings. However YOU choose to do this is up to you, just try. Again, the goal is to adapt to your new lifestyle in baby steps so you can enjoy the journey of watching your life, your body and your mind transform right before your own eyes. Step 3 and you are on your way!
If you actually follow the breakfast, lunch and dinner rule each day (although most of us probably don’t), you will be making 21 choices a week of what it is that you are going to be putting into your body. In the average day, people make approximately 35,000 remotely conscious decisions so 21 doesn’t seem like that much, right? Well, those 21 choices are probably the most important. Those choices actually affect the remaining 34,979 decisions that you will make because sound decisions come from a sound body and mind. Stress, anxiety, lack of mindfulness and an over-extended schedule take a toll on your body. So spend some time thinking about those 21 choices a little harder. It’s your foundation for everything else.
We have included a 7 day meal planner which includes breakfast, luch and dinner. Don’t look at it the same way as you normally would. Look at it in a way that says “each of those boxes is a choice.” Those choices are the building blocks of your WHOLE essence. Take them seriously. Just take the time to pause for a second and think. There are 34,979 other decisions depending on it.
